Older dog owners face lower risk of disability
A review from Japan found that older Japanese dog owners face a lower risk of disability than non dog owners. The review from the National Institute for Environmental Studies in Tsukuba, Japan of 11,233 Japanese adults aged from 65 to 84 found that older dog owning adults were approximately half as likely to have a disability than those who had never owned dogs. This was true even after adjusting for other health factors that could influence disability including history of chronic disease, time spent outdoors, marital and socioeconomic status.
