30-60 mins of weekly muscle strengthening exercises reduces the risk of death
New data published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine found that just 30-60 minutes of weekly muscle strengthening exercises is linked to a 10-20% lower risk of death from all causes, particularly cardiovascular disease, diabetes and cancer. The meta analysis included results from 16 studies with participant numbers ranging from 4,000 to almost 480,000. Current physical activity guidelines recommend regular muscle strengthening exercises twice a week.
