Mindfulness-based programs and cognitive function
A systematic review and meta-analysis looked at the effect of mindfulness-based programs on cognitive function. With the data from 56 studies the review found that spending just 15 minutes a day practising mindfulness could boost memory, concentration and problem solving abilities. The review found benefits in individuals aged from 18- 80 with the largest benefits for those aged over 60. The review looked at courses that lasted between 6 and 12 weeks delivered by trained teachers where individuals were also encouraged to do daily home practice of 15-20 minutes a day.
