Ultra Processed Foods
Ultra processed foods are directly linked to 32 harmful effects to health, including a higher risk of heart disease, cancer, diabetes type 2, adverse mental health conditions and even an early death, according to the world’s largest review of its kind to date. The review, published in the BMJ involving almost 10 million people highlights the need to target and reduce exposure to ultra processed foods.
According to the Soil Association the UK consumes more ultra processed foods than anywhere else in Europe and ultra processed foods make up 65% of our children’s diets and over 50% of our shopping baskets.
