Nature-based activities lead to less anxiety, improved mood and increased positive emotions
Research led by the University of York revealed that taking part in outdoor activities leads to less anxiety, improved moods and positive emotions. Researchers screened 14,321 nature-based interventions records (NBI) and analysed 50 studies to find that outdoor activities lasting for 20-90 minutes over an 8-12 week period had the most positive outcomes. Activities that helped improve mood, lessen anxiety and increase positive emotions included exercising outdoors, gardening, forest bathing and even engaging in conversation outdoors.
