Attitudes to dementia

Alzheimer’s disease International’s report 2019 Attitudes to dementia found that many people, including healthcare professionals wrongly believe that dementia is just a natural risk of ageing. The study which surveyed 70,000 people in 155 countries found that 62% of the healthcare professionals surveyed believe dementia is a normal part of the ageing process.

The Alzheimer’s Society recommend the following steps to help prevent dementia

  1. Be physically active

  2. Eat healthily

  3. Don’t smoke

  4. Drink less alcohol

  5. Exercise your mind

  6. Take control of your health
