Eat healthily and exercise for improved cognitive functioning
Researchers from York University, Toronto, Canada found that eating more than 10 servings of fresh fruit and vegetables daily combined with regular exercise leads to better cognitive functioning, preserving cognitive function and delaying cognitive decline (better cognitive functioning is believed also to delay the onset of dementia in older adults). The researchers also found that by adding more moderate levels of exercise, even those eating only 5 or less servings of fresh fruit or vegetables had improved levels of cognitive functioning.
The research involved more than 45,522 adults aged between 30 and 80 years of age.
