Mindfulness practice found to help alleviate stress and anxiety among nurses
A systematic review of 14 scientific articles from 7 different countries found a significant improvement in mental health after treatments with mindfulness practices. Scientists at 3 Brazilian institutions found that practicing mindfulness helped nurses manage their levels of anxiety and stress. The review is published in the journal Archives of Psychiatric Nursing.
Mindfulness practice helps us direct our attention to the present moment, observing thoughts, feelings and sensory experiences. Meditation and breathing exercises can help relieve stress and anxiety whilst slowing down our physical and mental responses which can result in benefits to our overall health and happiness.
