Reef Friendly Sunscreen
Many chemicals in sunscreens are harmful to ocean ecosystems and this can have a major impact on coral reefs, fish and marine animals. When we swim or even shower harmful chemicals can enter our waterways. Choose sunscreens that are reef friendly, many are and it is easy to check.
Check your sunscreen for the following ingredients that are harmful to our oceans and avoid
Oxybenzone
Octinoxate
Octocrylene
Homosalate
4-methylbenzylidene camphor
PABA
Parabens
Triclosan
Any nano particles or ‘nano sized’ zinc or titanium ( that doesn’t say micro-sized or non nano that rubs in)
Any form of microplastics like ‘exfoliating beads’
