Seeing or hearing birds can improve mental wellbeing

New research from Kings College London found that seeing or hearing birds can improve mental wellbeing for up to 8 hours. The study published in Scientific reports found that this was also evident in people with a diagnosis of depression.

Participants from around the world, in particular the UK, the European Union and the USA completed 26,856 assessments using the Urban Mind App. The researchers found that the link between seeing or hearing birds and improved mental wellbeing was not explained by other environmental factors like the presence of trees, water or plants.
