In a survey of 10,000 almost 9 in 10 had at least 1 ‘unhealthy’ trait
The Office for National Statistics has published data from the Health Survey for England showing that almost 9 in 10 of those asked had at least 1 ‘unhealthy’ trait. The researchers classed smoking, eating less than 5 portions of fruit and vegetables daily, being obese, drinking more than 14 units of alcohol a week and having low levels of physical activity as ‘unhealthy’ traits.
The survey of 8,000 adults and 2,000 children compared the lifestyles of children and their parents and found that the children of obese parents were around 3 times more likely to be obese than the children of healthy weight parents.
