High Blood Pressure = Vascular Dementia Risk

High Blood Pressure = Vascular Dementia Risk

Researchers from The George Institute for Global Health (Oxford University) assessed the medical records of 4.28 million people in the UK without any known vascular disease and dementia over a 7 year period.

The findings of the study published in the journal Stroke found that middle aged people with high blood pressure are 3 times more likely to develop vascular dementia.

Professor Rahimi who led the study said "our results suggest that lowering blood pressure either by exercise, diet or drugs could reduce the risk of vascular dementia ".
