A recent study published by the journal Heart suggests that loneliness is a major risk factor for coronary artery disease and stroke
Data from more than 23 independent studies involving more than 180,000 adults over periods ranging from 3 to 21 years was analysed
The overwhelming conclusion was that loneliness or social isolation is associated with a 29% higher risk of coronary artery disease and a 32% higher risk of stroke
