Physical activity and bacterial urinary tract infections

A team of researchers at the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) conducted a study involving the entire population of Denmark using their health database.  The study examined the affects of physical activity and bacterial urinary tract infections.  The study published in the journal Medicine and Science in Sports Exercise reported that compared with sedentary behaviour, low levels of physical activity was associated with a 10% lower risk of bacterial urinary tract infections, further, low and moderate levels of physical activity were associated with a 21% and a 32% reduction in infections compared to individuals classified as sedentary.
