Vitamin D supplements and dementia

A new study published in Alzheimer’s, Diagnosis, Assessment & Disease Monitoring found that vitamin D supplements may help to ward off dementia. Researchers at the University of Calgary’s Hotchkiss Brain Institute in Canada along with the University of Exeter found that of the 12,388 individuals involved in the study, the individuals taking a vitamin D supplement were 40% less likely to have a dementia diagnosis. Interestingly the effects were significantly greater in female participants than in males.
