Exercising in hot weather

Exercising in hot weather puts extra strain on the body. An early morning workout is better on a hot day when temperatures and humidity are lower. Wear natural fabrics including linen, bamboo, cotton or viscose whilst exercising, natural fabrics are light and breathable keeping you cool and helping avoid irritation and heat rashes. Hats and caps with wide brims are ideal for training, protecting the head whilst creating shade on the face. Staying hydrated is essential and for higher intensity training electrolytes can help to control the balance of fluids in the body. Don’t forget to wear a good sunscreen that is natural and chemical free, choose a reef friendly one that protects skin without harming delicate marine ecosystems.

NOTE: If you experience any of the following STOP exercising, rest and rehydrate: lightheadedness, weakness, fatigue, nausea or vomiting, blurry vision, excessive heart rate. Always seek medical help if needed.
