HRT Increases Risk of Breast Cancer by 170%

In a British study of 39,000 women, the biggest of its kind to date, scientists concluded that taking combined oestrogen and progestogen HRT (the most common form) for an average of 5 years tripled the risk of breast cancer.

The findings published in the British Journal of Cancer concluded that women taking the combined form of HRT were 170% more likely to get breast cancer compared with previous estimates that the risk rose by 70%.
